Sophia (Sophie) was born and raised in Billings, Montana. She moved to Georgia in 2021 to attend Emory University, where she is currently pursuing bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and economics. Sophie is passionate about building bridges at the interface between science and society, and her love for biocatalysis is largely inspired by her commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration. Her current research efforts involve new synthetic applications of peroxidase enzymes for chemical synthesis. Outside of the lab, Sophie enjoys rock-climbing, reading, and playing fiddle tunes on her violin. She also conducts solid-liquid extractions as a barista at Kaldis Coffee!
