Zoe Patton
Graduate Student zoe.patton@emory.edu

Zoe grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and completed her B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Business Administration at Louisiana State University. Her undergraduate research focused on the synthesis of magnetic ionic liquids (ILs) and tensile testing shape-memory polymers combined with magnetic ionic liquids with Professor Isiah Warner and the development of a new and facile method for the synthesis of alpha-selenoglycosides from selenouronium chloride salts with Justin Ragains. During her junior year, she joined the Maximizing Access to Research Careers (MARC) program at LSU and conducted off campus summer research in the lab of Dr. Bill Wuest at Emory University on the synthesis of analogs for NpmA inhibition for antibiotic resistance. This experience sparked her interest to pursue research in organic chemistry, and she has found a new passion within the field of biocatalysis.
